day SIXTEEN. Nothing going on at all. No pain, just sore teeth thanks to my rubber bands. I feel like I'm more swollen today. I feel like my swelling is never going to go down. I'm still numb, mostly on the right side of my face. I feel like I say the same thing every single day. Nothing is changing, and I am so ready for it to!
Carolina beat MSU earlier today so GO GAMECOCKS!!
I got some pansies and snap dragons, and I'm going to plant them tomorrow. Fall is in the air! Summer is definitely my favorite time of the year, but I am excited for some cooler weather.
Happy Saturday night!! This time next week, I'll be working. SO not excited!

a day late!
day FIFTEEN. I didn't do anything of interest yesterday, but I was out and about and didn't get home until 11ish last night, so I didn't have time to do a post. But I did take pictures yesterday... GET EXCITED!! (total sarcasm!!) So I'm doing a short Saturday post with Friday pictures.

TWO WEEKS
day FOURTEEN. Not much going on today. Because of me only breathing through my nose, I had a really hard time falling asleep last night. Weird. I know, but it was! I never got into a deep sleep, and finally around 5am, I was up and in pain. These new rubber bands are really pulling on me, and I hurt! It was probably the most pain I've been in since my surgery. It wasn't horrible pain, probably a 4 out of 10, but I was really uncomfortable. I've been sore all day, but it's nothing I can't handle.
I'm still struggling with talking because of the splint. It's really hard to talk, so I prefer not to. I think I'm going to have a really hard time once I go back to work.
I weighed today, and I've gained exactly one pound since last week. So I'm only down six pounds now, but I am okay with that!! Once I get my splint off, I am going to start dieting, and I'm going to really exercise. I've done it successfully before, and I'm going to do it again. And I'm going to blog about it. I feel like that will make me be more accountable for myself. We will see!!
I feel like my swelling is going down, maybe? But that might just be wishful thinking??
Okay! I've got nothing else!! Until tomorrow... :)

wednesday, wednesday!
day THIRTEEN. I'm getting a little stir crazy, so getting out of the house today was just what I needed! I had an appointment with my oral surgeon. It was short, sweet and to the point. Before my appointment, only the left side of my teeth were touching when I bit together, so my doctor changed how I'm wearing my rubber bands. Now all of my teeth touch together when I bite down. The way they are now positioned with the rubber bands, I'm forced to breathe completely out of my nose. I know that's normal for the majority of people, but it is definitely not something I'm used to!
After we left the doctor's office, Mom and I stopped at a really cute boutique, The Spotted Zebra. I tried to find a website, but they don't have one. Mom bought me three pieces of jewelry that are so nice.** She said it was my "after surgery" present. I can't complain!! She got a couple other things too! We are definitely going back next week after my appointment!! We also stopped at another new store closer to home then went home for lunch. Now I'm just rambling, but I did have a really good afternoon! I didn't get back to my house until almost 7:00.
**thanks Mom!! I LOVE YOU!!!!
I've kind of struggled with eating with this huge splint in my mouth. I pretty much am only eating peanut butter right now. I could eat more of a variety, but it's so hard to chew, and I'm not too hungry. I'll stick to PB at least for the next couple of days!! Dr. Clark said today we would schedule an appointment to get my splint off at my next visit. I'm hoping I won't have it on but two more weeks. I'll find out next Wednesday!!
This is completely unrelated to my mouth, but Mom got me into watching Revenge, a new show on ABC. Y'all, it is so good!! I wasn't going to watch it, but once I started, I was hooked!!
Also, if anyone even reads my blog, please tell me you've heard about the little girls from London (I think?) that sing Super Bass by Nicki Minaj? They were on the Ellen Show today. If you haven't heard them yet, you've got to watch them on YouTube!
So that's all for today. I can't believe tomorrow it will have already been two weeks since my surgery!! I'm really sad that I have to go back to work in a week from this Friday. I'd be fine if I never worked again, but then again, who wouldn't??
my rubber bands now go across my front teeth, sort of!

still swollen
day TWELVE. Today has been rainy and gloomy. I went to the orthodontist today. Everyone there kept going on and on about how good I looked. I think they're supposed to say that to their patients. I really don't look too hot. I know the swelling will go down with time, but oh my goodness, I am SO ready for it to go down!
I think this picture is gross, but this is the only angle you can tell that I'm still really swollen.
Nothing happened at the orthodontist's office. They took some pictures and x-rays then I was on my way.
It is really hard to blog everyday. I feel like I have absolutely nothing to talk about. I am going to my oral surgeon's office tomorrow, so maybe I'll have something new after my appointment.
You can tell in this pic how swollen I am between my lips and nose.
Enough about me for today :)

it's amazing what a straightner can do!
day ELEVEN. Most days after I take a shower, I just brush my hair and go (post-surgery). However, I got an urge to actually dry and straighten my hair this Monday and last Monday. Maybe it'll become a trend?
Comparing my two pictures one week apart, my smile is definitely a lot different. Other than that, I really can't tell too much of a difference. I don't know if that's a good thing or not!!
*please let me apologize ahead of time. Yes, I did do my hair! BUT I am still in my pajamas!! Sorry :)

I am no longer taking any prescription medicine! I may use the peridex to rinse my mouth out from time to time, but no more antibiotic and no more pain medicine. I was using the liquid lortab to help me sleep, but I took benadryl last night instead. I'm also taking 600mg of Advil three times a day just in case I do have any pain.
I would really like for those big, ugly red things over my lips to go away. I put polysporin on them several times a day, but they're not budging. Luckily, they don't hurt.
One thing that does hurt... laughing and/or smiling really big. Mom got me laughing really hard today, and it hurt so bad. It felt like I was ripping some stitches way up in my gums close to my nostrils. I didn't, but it really felt like I was. No more big smiles and big laughs from me for a while!!
I go to my orthodontist tomorrow for the first time since I've had surgery. I'm excited to hear what he has to say. I'm really hoping to have my braces off early next year sometime, but who knows. I do know that I want my teeth to be perfect, so if I have to wear them a little longer, I guess that'll be okay.
Mom got a new iPhone today and I took this picture with it. I thought it was too cute not to share!!
goodnight from ashley and jack <3

all up in my grill
day TEN. I still have nothing to write about. Still swollen. Still pretty numb. Still bored. No pain. No thrush, but I still have some bumps in my throat that don't hurt. I really did not want to put a picture of me up today. But I did. Just for comparison purposes!! When I smile, or try to smile, I don't look too swollen.
So this pretty little thing gets to hang out in my mouth for 4-6 weeks, as far as I know. This is what oral surgeons do these days instead of wiring patients' mouths shut. It's like a cast for the jaw. It's clear and it touches all of my top teeth. Well, just the bottoms of my top teeth, like I've said my before. It also covers a large majority of the roof of my mouth, which makes it pretty hard to talk. It's held in place by wires that are attached to my braces.
I might get wild tomorrow and make a trip to Target. I am bored out of my mind, so I'll probably go even though I look like a crazy!!
goodnight :-o
As I was taking pictures of myself, I did get a really good close up of what's on my teeth right now. Obviously I cropped the picture and turned it black and white; the colored picture was not too hot!
